New York Giants Sign Offensive Guard Ben Herrell: The New York Giants have officially signed “street” free agent offensive guard Ben Herrell.

Giants Waive Two: The Giants have officially announced that they have waived OT Jon Doty (which we reported yesterday) and rookie free agent HB Jerod Void.

Shockey and Burress Missing OTA Practices: According to yesterday’s Bergen Record, the Giants have begun their Organized Team Activity (OTA) workouts at Giants Stadium. However, The Record is reporting that TE Jeremy Shockey and WR Plaxico Burress are still working out at the University of Miami and skipping the OTA practice sessions.

The Giants hold a mandatory three-day veteran mini-camp from June 14-16. The Record says that the mini-camp will officially represent the end of the Giants’ 2006 offseason program before training camp starts in late July. When the agent for Shockey and Burress was asked if his clients would participate in any OTA workouts before the mini-camp, he responded, “I have no comment on that.”

“We expected this, they didn’t come last year, either,” said General Manager Ernie Accorsi.

Giants No Longer Interested in Jay Fiedler?: Yesterday’s Bergen Record is reporting that with the signing of QB Rob Johnson, the Giants apparently no longer have any interest in unrestricted free agent QB Jay Fiedler, who currently is still unable to workout for teams due to the shoulder injury he suffered last season with the Jets.

The Record also says several teams were interested in QB Rob Johnson before he signed with the Giants.
