500,000 Ticket Requests for Giants-Dolphins Game in England: It was officially announced last Friday that the Giants and Dolphins would be playing their 2007 regular season contest in London, England on October 28th. Over the course of the next three days, 160,000 fans have requested approximately 500,000 tickets to the game.

The capacity of the refurbished Wembley Stadium, where the game will be played, is between 85,000-90,000 seats.

An internet ticket registration process for registered members of the NFL’s UK website was set up after the game was announced. However, the website’s server crashed several times due to the high level of traffic. The ticket request process will close on February 18. A lottery will determine who among the registered fans receives tickets.

“This is an overwhelming response and endorsement of the NFL’s decision to play the first regular season game outside North America in London,” said the managing director of NFL United Kingdom. “Nearly all these requests have come from UK-based fans. These figures do not take into account the allocation of tickets for Dolphins and Giants fans from the United States. We anticipate a quick sellout when tickets go on sale in early March…This shows the appetite for professional football here. We also have had fans calling from across Europe, and from as far as Australia and New Zealand. I believe that the UK’s hottest sporting ticket this year will be for the NFL game at Wembley.”
