New York Giants Re-Sign Safety Deon Grant: The Giants have officially re-signed unrestricted free agent safety Deon Grant.
“In the back of my mind, I knew I would be back here,” said Grant. “This is where I wanted to be. There were a lot of situations that I turned down. I didn’t make sure that I stayed on the board but I was glad that I was still on the board and the Giants gave me that phone call.”
“He’s a veteran safety who’s always been a guy that you can rely on for knowing everybody’s assignments and being able to really understand the game,” said Head Coach Tom Coughlin. “He’s very smart. He’s played a long time. He’s just a good, good, solid football player that we know will help us back there.”
Giants Sign Placekicker Rhys Lloyd: The Giants have signed unrestricted free agenty PK Rhys Lloyd (Carolina Panthers).
Giguere, Turenne, and Harris Waived; Martin Signing Confirmed: The Giants yesterday officially waived/injured WR Sam Giguere (groin) and CB Woodny Turenne (calf); and waived S Cary Harris. The team also officially confirmed the signing of S Derrick Martin, which we reported yesterday.
“(Martin) worked out very well for us,” Head Coach Tom Coughlin said. “He was actually playing pretty well before he got hurt last year. He has special teams credentials, which is something we’re constantly looking at.”
Injury Report: Missing practice yesterday were QB Sage Rosenfels (illness), WR Domenik Hixon (knee), LB Michael Boley (back), LB Clint Sintim (knee), CB Prince Amukamara (foot), S Jerrard Tarant (shoulder), and PK Lawrence Tynes (thigh).
DE Jason Pierre-Paul (back tightness) and WR Darius Reynaud (hamstring) left practice early.
Both WR Ramses Barden (ankle) and OC Adam Koets (knee) remain on the Physically-Unable-to-Perform (PUP) List.
