October 8, 2010 New York Giants Injury Update – Phillips Misses Practice: Not practicing yesterday were FB Madison Hedgecock (hamstring), OC Shaun O’Hara (ankle), OT Will Beatty (foot), DE Mathias Kiwanuka (neck), LB Keith Bulluck (toe), and FS Kenny Phillips (knee).

Hedgecock, O’Hara, Beatty, Kiwanuka, and Bulluck will not play on Sunday against the Houston Texans

Phillips is listed as “questionable” for the game.

Phillips did not practice on Wednesday, practiced on a limited basis on Thursday, and was back on the sidelines yesterday. “No, (Phillips) didn’t practice,” said Head Coach Tom Coughlin. “He warmed up and then didn’t practice…He has a little bit of an MCL. It’s not a surgical issue at all. He’s had difficulty coming back from it, so we’ll see. We’ve still got two days, but he did not practice.”

“It’s more of a precaution, nothing serious,” said Phillips. “They’re just trying to be smart right now…I hope to play, looking forward to playing. I’ve been watching film and doing everything to prepare to play, so I’m looking forward to it…It’s nothing with my knee that I had surgery on. There’s no setbacks or swelling or anything, the knee is great.”

HB Ahmad Bradshaw (ankle), OC Adam Koets (knee), DE Osi Umenyiora (knee), and CB Terrell Thomas (sore hamstring) practiced on a limited basis. Bradshaw and Thomas are officially listed as “questionable” for the game while Koets and Umenyiora are “probable.”

“(Bradshaw) did well,” said Coughlin. “He did okay – he got up on his toes, ran around.”

Bradshaw says he will play on Sunday. “I’ve had sprains before,” said Bradshaw. “In both ankles. It’s just something that occurs. A freak accident. As many as I’ve had, it really doesn’t faze me anymore. It’s been swollen so many times it doesn’t really affect the ankle anymore as far as strengthening back to where it was…I’ve had so many, it’s nothing to get used to. It doesn’t stop anything.”

OL Kevin Boothe, who is currently on the Physically-Unable-to-Perform (PUP) List with a torn pectoral muscle that he suffered before training camp, is first eligible to return to the 53-man roster after the week six game against the Detroit Lions. Boothe believe he should be ready to return by then. “I should be, as far as I know,” said Boothe. “Everything’s been positive so far.”

According to the PUP rules, starting on October 20th, the Giants will have three weeks to make a decision on Boothe. They will either have to add him to the 53-man roster or place him on season-ending Injured Reserve.
