September 5, 2008 New York Giants Injury Report: DE Mathias Kiwanuka injured his ankle late in the game against the Washington Redskins. “I think he will be (alright),” said Head Coach Tom Coughlin. “The X-rays were okay and he is sore and has a little swelling, but we will see.  Hopefully he will be okay.”

PK Lawrence Tynes (knee) did some kicking yesterday. “I only kicked 10 balls and it’s been a month, so it’ll still be tough,” Tynes said. “We’ll see how it feels tomorrow. But you’ve got to progress from that to kickoffs, and I haven’t even thought about those.”

“The beneficial part is John (Carney) kicked very well , so I don’t have to hurry back,” Tynes said. “But I’d like to get back as soon as possible. I’m sick of watching.”

Notes and Quotes: The Giants will be off today and Sunday. They return to practice on Monday.

Dick Enderle, who played guard for the Giants from 1972-75, was found dead in his Manhattan apartment Thursday. He was 60. Police said no foul play was suspected.

Head Coach Tom Coughlin on why HB Ahmad Bradshaw did not carry the ball on Thursday: “That was my fault.  I didn’t get that rotation worked out the way I really would want to…Not that I am not pleased with Bradshaw. No, that is not the case, but I just didn’t get the right rotation.”

For those who missed it, the Giants’ three Super Bowl championship teams were honored before kickoff on Thursday. A huge inflatable replica of the Vince Lombardi Trophy was moved to midfield as the stadium video boards showed highlights from Super Bowl XXI and Super Bowl XXV. Players from those teams, including Harry Carson, Stacy Robinson, Karl Nelson, Brad Benson, Bill Ard, Howard Cross, Rodney Hampton, Ottis Anderson, Carl Banks, and Mark Bavaro, were introduced. After a short video with current players talking about the 2007 Championship team was presented, the front panel of the inflatable trophy was lowered and out stepped Michael Strahan – wearing his #92 jersey and holding the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

“Giants Stadium, you thought I was never coming back,” said Strahan. “But I had to come back to celebrate the championship with the greatest fans in all of sports. And for one final time, salute my teammates for an incredible championship run. So what I want you to do is, I want you to get on your feet, I want you to make some noise and I want you to be ready to stomp somebody out and welcome the New York Giants Super Bowl champions.”
