September 3, 2008 New York Giants Injury Report: WR Domenik (Hixon) has officially been listed as “questionable” for the game against the Redskins tonight.  HB Ahmad  Bradshaw (calf) was added to the injury report yesterday and is “probable.”

CB Terrell Thomas (hamstring), LB Jonathan Goff (back), and PK Lawerence Tynes (knee) will not play.

New York Giants Leadership Council Established Again: For the second year in a row, Head Coach Tom Coughlin has established a leadership council – a group of players who meet regularly with Coughlin to discuss team issues and policies of concern to the players.  The purpose of the council is to encourage dialogue between the players and Coughlin.

“I’m doing it again because of the same reason I did it the first time – communication,” said Coughlin. “I don’t want there to be anybody that doesn’t understand where we’re coming from.”

The 13 players on the leadership council are QB Eli Manning, HB Brandon Jacobs, WR Amani Toomer, LT David Diehl, OC Shaun O’Hara, RG Chris Snee, DE Mathias Kiwanuka, DE Osi Umenyiora, DE/DT Justin Tuck, DT Fred Robbins, LB Antonio Pierce, CB Corey Webster, and P Jeff Feagles.

“Osi’s on it, but he’s not going to be able to meet (because he’s on Injured Reserve), so basically, you have 12,” said Coughlin.

Droughns and Madison Accept Pay Cuts: According to The Star-Ledger, HB Reuben Droughns and CB Sam Madison have agreed to pay cuts.  Droughns and Madison accepted $250,000 and 500,000 reductions in their 2008 base salaries, respectively.

“I’ve gotten used to these guys. I want to stay around them as much as I can,” said Droughns. “We have some great guys around here and I love the coaching staff. We were top five in the league (in rushing) last year and hopefully we can finish in the top five again.”

Notes: Under Head Coach Tom Coughlin, the Giants are 1-3 in season openers.

The Giants are 6-10 in home games at Giants Stadium the past two seasons.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the Giants are the first team in the Super Bowl era to have two players 42 years old or older on the roster at the same time (Jeff Feagles and John Carney).
