August 8, 2008 New York Giants Injury Report: Head Coach Tom Coughlin did not shed much more light on the injuries suffered to LB Jonathan Goff (fractured transverse process in his back), DE Robert Henderson (knee), and DE Wallace Gilberry.

Coughlin was asked if Goff would be lost for the season. “I don’t know that,” replied Coughlin. “They speculate on the amount of time he will be out. We will have to do some discussing of that situation, probably this evening…That doesn’t mean anything other than the fact that we will listen to the medical advice on, again, what they think is the length of his injury and then we will talk about what his status might very well be. I don’t want anybody to read anything into that because I just walked out of a meeting in which we discussed the game, so I have not met with the medical people. I do have a preliminary report here, but there isn’t any indication of time. I haven’t met with (General Manager) Jerry (Reese), nor have I met with (Vice President of Medical Services) Ronnie Barnes and that will take place probably this evening.”

Speaking of the injured defensive ends, Coughlin said, “Henderson is the more severe. It is all speculation as to how far they might be out. Gilberry, the hope was that he could get back sooner, but there will be some time involved.”

Coughlin did say he expected WR Steve Smith (groin) to return to practice tomorrow. But he was not sure about WR Plaxico Burress (ankle) and WR Mario Manningham (quad).
