The second and last day of the New York Giants 2-day, mandatory mini-camp was held on Wednesday at Quest Diagnostics Training Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey. No live contact is permitted during the mini-camp, but 7-on-7, 9-on-7, and 11-on-11 drills are allowed.
The players are now off until training camp starts in July. Rookies report to training camp on July 15 and veterans will report on July 22. The first training camp practice will be on July 23.
“I think everybody’s done a good job of improving from where we started to where we are now,” said Head Coach Brian Daboll. “We talked about that this morning. We made a lot of improvements in a number of areas, both individually and collectively as groups. That’s what this time of year is for, and training camp will be here in 34 days, so we have to hit the ground running.
“What we accomplished in the OTAs and phase one, phase two and phase three, which we put a lot of good work in, we can’t lose that in the next 30 days. In terms of our physical abilities, our techniques, our training methods, we have to come back. When training camp hits, I don’t have much tolerance for mistakes during training camp. The season is getting close, so we have to be prepared mentally, and we have to be prepared physically, then we have to make good choices and decisions outside of the building. They’re used to a routine for the last three months and you have to represent yourself and the organization the right way.”
