New York Giants Trade for Sage Rosenfels and Darius Reynaud: The Giants have acquired QB Sage Rosenfels and halfback/return specialist Darius Reynaud from the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for reportedly a 5th round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft and an undisclosed conditional pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. The deal is contingent on both players passing physicals today.

In nine NFL seasons, the 32-year old Rosenfels has played for the Redskins (2001), Dolphins (2002-2005), Texans (2006-2008), and Vikings (2009). He has played in only 32 games, starting 12. In his career, he has completed 351 of 562 passes (62 percent) for 4,156 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 29 interceptions. During the 2010 preseason for the Vikings, Rosenfels completed 31 of 51 passes for 402 yards, 4 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions. Rosenfels has two years left on his current contract, one which will pay him $2.6 million in 2010 and $3 million in 2011.

The 25-year old Reynaud signed with the Vikings as a rookie free agent after the 2008 NFL Draft. He is a converted wide receiver with experience as a punt and kick returner.

Cutdown Day Today: All NFL teams must reduce their rosters from 75 to 53 by 6PM today. With the additions of QB Sage Rosenfels and Returner Darius Reynaud, the Giants will actually have to make 24 roster moves.

September 3, 2010 New York Giants Injury Report: Head Coach Tom Coughlin provided the following injury updates yesterday:

  • OC Shaun O’Hara (ankle/Achilles) and CB Aaron Ross (foot): “We have to wait and see. We do have a nice stretch here of a couple of days and they don’t have to work Monday with us if that’s what the doctors want and so we could put together a nice run of four or five days here where they’re just being treated and hopefully responding to the rehab and the treatment so there’s no way I can speculate on that. We’re all hopeful.”
  • HB Andre Brown (turf toe): “All last week Andre had a turf toe problem that was bothering him and it became evident to me that he was really not going to be able to function so when we spoke with the doctors pre-game and they were evaluating him, the decision was made to go ahead and shut him down, put him in a boot, take the pressure off that, and try to get him back to where he can run as soon as possible so that decision was made then and I’m not sure exactly how long.”
  • H-Back Travis Beckum (neck): “All of the MRI work has been completed. Hopefully we’re going to get Travis back next week.”
  • MLB Philip Dillard (hamstring): “Hamstring strain. It’ll be probably a day to day thing. Maybe a week. I don’t know for sure.”
