October 21, 2009 New York Giants Injury Report: Not practicing yesterday were DT Chris Canty (calf), LB Michael Boley (knee), and CB Aaron Ross (hamstring).

QB Eli Manning (foot), RT Kareem McKenzie (groin), HB Ahmad Bradshaw (ankle/foot), and LB Antonio Pierce (back) were limited in practice.

When asked about his foot, Manning replied, “It is just treatment and time, being smart with it early on and giving it rest. It is just going to be maintenance; everyday stretching out the calf and making sure you are smart with it…Feels good, it doesn’t bother me at practice. I feel that I can do everything. Run around and do everything that I need to do, so it feels good.”

WR Mario Manningham (back), LG Rich Seubert (shoulder), and HB Danny Ware (elbow) fully practiced.

Newsday is reporting that S Kenny Phillips, who is on Injured Reserve, had a quarter-sized osteochondral defect on his patella that received microfracture surgery.  But Newsday says a source said the knee looked good otherwise and that the diagnosis of patellofemoral arthritis used by the Giants was probably too strong of a term or the result of an over-read on the MRI. The source said Phillips should be back next season.

Practice Squad Moves: The Giants signed DT Dwayne Hendricks to the Practice Squad yesterday. The Giants originally signed Hendricks as a rookie free agent after the 2009 NFL Draft, but waived him in June before training camp even started.

Meanwhile, DT Anthony Bryant was placed on the Practice Squad/Injured list with a leg injury.

Notes: Giants fans attending Sunday night’s game against the Arizona Cardinals should plan on arriving early. A special pre-game ceremony honoring the 1986 Super Bowl Champions will be held. There will be special guests and videos honoring this legendary championship team.
