September 9, 2009 New York Giants Injury Report: CB Aaron Ross (hamstring), CB Kevin Dockery (hamstring), LB Clint Sintim (groin), and OC Adam Koets (ankle) did not practice yesterday.

Ross has been sidelined with hamstring issues for weeks. “It’s day-by-day – that’s the only thing I can report,” said Head Coach Tom Coughlin.

Regarding Dockery, Coughlin said, “We’re just being very cautious with (his hamstring). He’s sore. We’re going to make sure it doesn’t get to be anything more than that.”

DT/DE Chris Canty, who missed all of the preseason with a hamstring injury, was not listed on the injury report. “We’re going to build this up as we go and see how he is,” Coughlin said. “We have to watch this, obviously. Anybody that has done as little as he’s done in preseason, you have to be very careful of that.”

“I’m preparing to play, play the game of football, and at the end of the day the coaches will make the judgment on whether they feel I can help the football team or not,” said Canty.

DT Anthony Bryant, who is currently on the Practice Squad, had problems with heat and cramping yesterday and was taken to the hospital for treatment and observation.

Terrell Thomas to Start at Cornerback: CB Terrell Thomas said yesterday that he will start against the Washington Redskins on Sunday. “The coaches already notified me that I’ll be starting this week, Monday,” Thomas said. “I’ve been preparing since the season ended last year for this day. I’m going to try to keep it. When ‘Dock’ (Kevin Dockery) comes back, when (Aaron) Ross comes back, we’re going to compete and, if so be it, I’ll go back to nickel or special teams. I’m just trying to do what’s best for the Giants.”

“Last year I was mostly in nickel, I knew that was the plan,” Thomas said. “This year, depending on the scheme, they might want me against a bigger wide receiver, or want me in the slot. So I’m preparing myself for special teams, nickelback, corner, whatever the team needs me for.”
