New York Giants Practice Squad Signings: According to The Star-Ledger, the Giants have signed the following players to the practice squad:

  • QB Rhett Bomar (2009 5th round pick)
  • HB Allen Patrick
  • TE Jason Pociask
  • DT Anthony Bryant
  • CB DeAndre Wright (2009 6th round pick)
  • S Sha’reff Rashad
  • S Vince Anderson

Bomar, Patrick, Bryant, Wright, Rashad, and Anderson were all waived by the Giants on Saturday.

Pociask was originally drafted in the 5th round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the New York Jets. He spent his entire rookie year on Injured Reserve with a shoulder injury. The Jets waived him in August 2008. Pociask was signed to the Practice Squad of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in October 2008. He has only played in four NFL games and has just one career reception.

Teams can sign up to eight players to the practice squad. Players on the practice squad are not protected and are free to sign with other teams.

Giants Check Out TE Alex Smith: According to The Star-Ledger, TE Alex Smith, who was waived by the Patriots on Saturday, visited the Giants yesterday. Smith was originally drafted in the 3rd round of the 2005 NFL Draft by the Buccaneers. The Buccaneers traded him to New England in April for a 5th round draft pick.
