Giants Place HB Andre Brown on Injured Reserve: As expected, the Giants have placed HB Andre Brown on Injured Reserve, officially ending his rookie season.

Giants Waive Two More: The Giants have waived TE Lee Vickers and waived/injured OL Andrew Carnahan (knee).

Giants Re-Sign OL Terrance Pennington: The Giants have re-signed OL Terrence Pennington, who they waived on Monday. With David Diehl (knee) and Guy Whimper (hip) not practicing, and OL Andrew Carnahan (knee) waived/injured, the Giants needed to bring back Pennington for the preseason game against the Patriots on Thursday night.

Injury Update: Not practicing yesterday were LT David Diehl (patellar tendinitis), OT Guy Whimper (hip), HB Danny Ware (ribs), WR David Tyree (hamstring), DT Jay Alford (knee), LB CB Aaron Ross (hamstring), and S Kenny Phillips (knee).

DT/DE Chris Canty (hamstring) and Michael Boley (hip) worked on individual drills. “Canty just did individual, which was encouraging,” said Coughlin. “He worked and it was good to see him out there. He was good about it too, his attitude was great.”

Diehl, Ware, Tyree, Canty, Alford, Boley, Ross, and Phillips will not play against the Patriots on Thursday. Whimper and LB Antonio Pierce (foot) may not play. “This is the first game I have missed in my life,” said Diehl. “It’s not something I am getting used to. I’ll be back next week fully loaded, ready to go.”

New York Giants and Osi Umenyiora Make Up: DE Osi Umenyiora’s hissy fit did not last long as both sides publicly said what transpired on Monday when Umenyiora skipped practice is now behind them. Umenyiora was fined by the Giants.

“We had a good discussion,” said Head Coach Tom Coughlin. “Osi came in (Tuesday) afternoon. We sat down, we had an opportunity to say what needed to be said and he was very good about it. He was humble, indicated that he knew he was wrong. He apologized, we had some thoughts exchanged about going forward and he had an opportunity to meet with (Defensive Coordinator) Bill Sheridan and his position coach Mike Waufle as well. Those conversations, although I was not in the room, were again in the spirit of trying to get better. That’s what everybody is here for, everybody is here to try and be the best possible team we can be and there is absolutely nothing but good feelings about this one. When we talk about team we are all trying to be the best we can be and be the part of… ‘one team, one chance’ is what we talk about. It was very good that Osi did come in. That issue has been resolved. We put that behind us and we are moving forward.”

“I’m very confident it won’t happen again,” responded Coughlin when asked.

Coughlin was also asked if Umenyiora is unhappy with Sheridan, as had been reported by the press yesterday. “No, I don’t think so,” said Coughlin. “I think (Osi) got emotional and did something that he wished he didn’t do, but he did it.”

“Absolutely (I regret it),” said Umenyiora. “It was a very, very bad moral decision on my part and an even worse financial decision on my part. Everything is cool now. I talked to who I needed to talk to, I apologized to who I needed to apologize to, and it was just so stupid and trivial for me to do that. Sometimes when you get emotional things happen like that, but everything is okay, though.”

Umenyiora was asked if he had a disagreement with Sheridan. “I wouldn’t think so because it was not even that extreme,” responded Umenyiora. “You can call it a disagreement. It was very minuscule and when I think about it, I can’t believe I acted that way. It was so uncharacteristic of me, but I just did it and I’m sorry for it. I apologized and hopefully we can move on from there.”

“I don’t behave that way and I don’t plan on behaving that way again,” said Umenyiora.
