Notes and Quotes: General Manager Jerry Reese told The New York Times yesterday that WR Plaxico Burress may remain a Giant in 2009 if he survives his current legal problems and “provided he plays by Giants rules…I just hope something like this makes the lights go on.”

The NFL Players Association (NFLPA) said yesterday that it intends to file a grievance against the Giants, challenging their suspension of Burress and their decision to place him on the Non-Football Injury (NFI) List. “The NFLPA is still reviewing the actions taken by the New York Giants relating to Plaxico Burress, but we intend to file a grievance challenging those actions,” the NFLPA said in a statement. “We believe that Burress’ rights have been violated under the CBA.”

WR Domenik Hixon on Burress: “Yeah we (talked on Tuesday). He started coaching me up. As soon as I saw him we started talking about releases and what to expect going up against Philly this weekend…He was coaching me up…That’s a teammate. He has personal issues going on right now but he still wants to coach and help somebody out so to me that says a lot about his character and trying to help somebody out during his trying times.”
