Strong Safety Sammy Knight to Visit Giants: According to The Star-Ledger and The Journal News, unrestricted free agent SS Sammy Knight (Jacksonville Jaguars) will visit the Giants today or tomorrow.  Knight visited the Broncos on Friday and Saturday but left Denver without a contract.  The Daily News says Knight is the Giants’ top choice to replace S Gibril Wilson, who signed with the Raiders on Friday.  The Journal News speculates that the Giants will attempt to sign Knight to a 1- or 2-year deal worth $1.5 million per season as a temporary replacement for Wilson.

The Giants reportedly also have some interest in unrestricted free agent S Eugene Wilson (New England Patriots).  The Daily News reports the Giants are still in contact with Wilson’s agent.

S Erik Coleman (New York Jets), who the Giants were supposedly interested in too, signed with the Atlanta Falcons yesterday.

Derrick Ward Update:  According to The Daily News Giants’ blog, the agent for unrestricted free agent HB Derrick Ward says his client has received a lot of interest from unspecified teams.  Ward’s agent said he was working on setting up visits with these suitors.

Latest Free Agent Rumblings:  Here are the latest free agent rumblings on the free agent front:

  • WR Javon Walker:  According to ESPN.com, the Giants are one of many teams interested in WR Javon Walker, who was recently released by the Denver Broncos.  Supposedly at least 10 teams have been in contact with Walker’s agent, including all four teams in the NFC East.
  • LB Demorrio Williams:  According to Scout.com, the Giants were interested in unrestricted free agent LB Demorrio Williams (Atlanta Falcons).  However, Williams signed with the Kansas City Chiefs yesterday.
