Contract Talks with Tom Coughlin Nearing a Close:  According to Newsday, the Giants and Tom Coughlin are nearing a 4-year contract extension for the once-embattled head coach of the Giants.  The deal would keep Coughlin under contract through the 2011 season.  Newsday speculates that the new contract could be worth as much as $5 million per season.  The extension could be finalized as early as this week.

Giants Continue Contract Talks with Own Free Agents:  According to The Journal News, General Manager Jerry Reese has said that he hopes that talks will heat up this week to re-sign soon-to-be unrestricted free agents FS Gibril Wilson, LB Kawika Mitchell, LB Reggie Torbor, and HB Derrick Ward.  Reese told the paper that he has been talking with their respective agents for the past two weeks.  Free agency begins at the end of this month.
