Injury Update – Mathias Kiwanuka Lost for the Season with Leg/Ankle Injuries:  LB Mathias Kiwanuka was scheduled to undergo surgery yesterday to stabilize the broken fibula and ankle in his leg.  “The doctors don’t believe (he will be able to come back from this season),” said Head Coach Tom Coughlin.  “They just think the recovery time is too great for this year.”  The Giants press release from yesterday said Kiwanuka “is out for the season.”

It sounds like HB Brandon Jacobs will miss some time with his hamstring injury.

“They are doing all the medical tests today (on Monday) and he is sore etc.,” said Coughlin.  “We are going to wait until I get some more information than what I have right now.  It is a left hamstring and we will just have to wait and see.”

Unfortunately, for the Giants, HB Derrick Ward (groin/ankle) is still a question mark.  “We are trying to figure out just exactly where Ward is and it probably would take through (Tuesday) to figure that out,” said Coughlin.
