November 14, 2007 New York Giants Injury Report – Antonio Pierce Has a Concussion:   Not practicing yesterday were MLB Antonio Pierce (concussion), WR Plaxico Burress (ankle), and HB Derrick Ward (ankle/groin).  WR Steve Smith (hamstring/shoulder) was limited.

Regarding Pierce, Head Coach Tom Coughlin said, “Since Monday, he has had a headache; he feels pretty good today (on Wednesday), but we are going to hold him for today.”

Coughlin was also asked if Burress’ injury situation has reached a point of diminishing returns.  “I don’t know,” said Coughlin. “That has been asked over and over. I certainly hope not. Every week at the beginning of the week is very difficult for him; very sore, that type of thing. He is committed to, by the end of the week, feeling better. We are in the same position as we always are – trying to get him there as fast as we can. He’s a guy who is focused and is working his tail off, doesn’t have any reps in practice. That’s difficult. But we want to try to make sure that game in and game out we can take full advantage of him. I think that there have been circumstances where he has not been able to do some of the things he normally can do. But he is still pushing himself through it. So we are trying to do that as well.”

Regarding Smith, Coughlin said, “It doesn’t sound like (he will practice fully this week). They are doing more with him but they still don’t give him the green light.”
