November 9, 2006 New York Giants Injury Report: Not practicing yesterday were DE Michael Strahan (foot), DE Osi Umenyiora (hip flexor), DE Justin Tuck (foot), LB Carlos Emmons (groin), and LB Brandon Short (quad). Strahan will not play against the Bears on Sunday night. Umenyiora is “doubtful” and Tuck, Emmons, and Short are “questionable.”

WR Plaxico Burress (back) and FB Jim Finn (knee) returned to practice. CB Sam Madison (hamstring) and WR Sinorice Moss (quad) practiced for the second day in a row. Finn is “probable” for the game, while Burress, Madison, and Moss are “questionable.”

When asked about Moss, Head Coach Tom Coughlin said, “He practiced (on Wednesday) and he was extremely limited, as I told you he would be. He practiced a little more (on Thursday) and he did a little more (on Thursday). I’d be much more pleased if we could just continue to build up the load and just continue to do that for awhile and have no setbacks. That would be a good start with that situation.”

Moss did not sound like he would play against the Bears. “Not this week,” said Moss. “I want to get back on the field but I’ve got to be patient with the injury. I don’t want it to reoccur.”

Notes and Quotes: The Star-Ledger is reporting that HB Derrick Ward may take over kickoff return duties from Chad Morton. Morton would still return punts.

WR Tim Carter on the Giants’ offense against the Bears: “From what I’ve seen of the game plan, we’re not taking a step back. We’re going to go out there and attack and be physical. That’s how you win games. You can’t be passive as an offense.”

Bears’ MLB Brian Urlacher on HB Brandon Jacobs: “Who is he? One of the running backs?”
