September 7, 2006 New York Giants Injury Report: Everyone practiced yesterday except for HB Derrick Ward (foot), who has been ruled out of the Sunday night game against the Colts.

LB LaVar Arrington (knee) returned to practice. When Head Coach Tom Coughlin was asked about Arrington missing Wednesday’s practice, Coughlin responded, “Maintenance. That’s the management program that we’re going to attempt to stay with … We’ll make that decision as to how we think the week should progress for him.” Arrington was taken off of the official injury report.

WR Sinorice Moss (quad) was not limited in practice. “He’s practicing well,” said Coughlin. “He’s practicing well. There were really no limitations on him today. He did pretty much everything.” Moss is still officially listed as “questionable” as is OG/OC Rich Seubert (toe).

Harry Carson to Be Honored at Halftime of Giants-Colts Game: Hall of Fame LB Harry Carson will receive his Hall of Fame ring from the Hall’s President and Executive Director Steve Perry during a halftime ceremony on Sunday night.

September 11th Remembered: The Giants will observe the fifth anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks on Sunday night. Approximately 80,000 American flags will be distributed to fans entering the stadium. A moment of silence will be observed prior to the game.

The color guard will be comprised of representatives from the FDNY, NYPD and NY/NJ PAPD (Port Authority Police Department). At the conclusion of the national anthem, which will be sung by Kate Mara, there will be a flyover with three Blackhawk helicopters. “There’s a lot to remember about that day,” said HB Tiki Barber. “Some of it is very tough to bring back up, but I think by and large it was a moment that brought this country together. It was tough at the time. Memories are lasting, but football is a good distraction for me and I think for a lot of other people in this country.”

Quotes: LB LaVar Arrington on TE Jeremy Shockey: “Coverage-wise, he’s always been the hardest tight end for me to cover out of all of them. I’m glad that I’m here with him now. He’s athletic, he’s big and he’s unpredictable. That makes it a very difficult task to defense him.”

RG Chris Snee on the Colts’ defense: “We’re going to have our hands full. They’re an extremely fast defense.”

MLB Antonio Pierce on QB Eli Manning: “He’s a totally different player, more prepared. I think he’s more confident in his ability, more confident about the guys that are around him, and this week has been a good week of practice. He looks sharp. You always know when practice is going good by how many balls are on the ground. We haven’t had many balls on the ground.”
