September 6, 2006 New York Giants Injury Report: Everyone practiced yesterday except for LB LaVar Arrington (knee) and HB Derrick Ward (foot). According to the Giants’ official press release, Arrington was held out in order to not overwork his surgically repaired knee. He is listed as “probable” for the game against the Colts on Sunday night. Ward will not play against the Colts. WR Sinorice Moss (quad) and OG/OC Rich Seubert (toe) practiced, but are officially listed as “questionable” for the game.

Another Recently Waived Giant Signed by Another Team: DE Eric Moore became the fifth ex-Giant who was recently waived to sign with another team. Moore was signed to the Practice Squad of the Saints. As reported earlier, S Charlie Peprah (Packers), CB Curtis Deloatch (Saints), WR Willie Ponder (Seahawks), and DT Damane Duckett (49ers) have signed with other NFL teams.

Quotes: WR Plaxico Burress, who chose to skip offseason workouts at the Meadowlands, on his on-field chemistry with QB Eli Manning: “We’re getting there. It takes time, it takes reps, it takes years. It just doesn’t happen overnight. We did hit-or-miss a lot last year and hopefully we can minimize that number this year so we can make plays on the football field. I take a lot of pride in the way I perform. It’s going to come from hard work in practice because I really didn’t get a lot of work in preseason. I feel like I’m one of the better receivers in this league and if I go out and focus and Eli and I get on the same page, we can really be something special.”

Colts’ QB Peyton Manning on QB Eli Manning: “I think he’s improved every year since he’s been a starting quarterback, from college to the NFL. The good quarterbacks, the smart quarterbacks, are the ones who can use the experience from the year before to their advantage and improve from it, and he’s certainly done that. One of my goals every year is to be a better player than I was the year before. I can honestly say that I feel that I have, in nine years, been a better player than I was the year before. I think Eli has just gotten better every year. Physically, he’s bigger and stronger (than) he ever has been, and his arm is as live as it ever has been. I think that he’s used the situations that he’s been in, whether it’s a two-minute situation, red zone situation, and tried to learn from the things that he did well, the things that he maybe could have done better. But nobody has worked harder than him this off-season. Every time I talked to him he was leaving the complex. He lives there year-round and he’s very committed to that team and that organization, which, as a quarterback, that’s what you have to do. You’re getting paid a lot of money, and there’s an obligation and a responsibility that comes with that to improve your level of play every single off-season. That’s my philosophy, and that’s what Eli’s done as well

“Nobody pulls harder for Eli than I do. I watch all of his games and I pull hard for him, and I’ve just been extremely proud of him. Eli and I have been very supportive of one another. I’m a very loyal brother to both of my brothers, both Cooper and Eli. I’m very defensive of both of them and very loyal to both of them. I’m just proud of him and his career. It’s not a surprise to me that he is where he is, because he has outstanding ability, but also you combine his positive attitude and his work ethic. It’s no surprise he’s a starting NFL quarterback, and a darn good one at that.”

LB LaVar Arrington on whether he will have any remorse over hitting Eli’s brother: “Not at all. If his mom was in a uniform and she was out there playing, I’d hit her and I wouldn’t feel anything about doing that.”
