New York Giants Add Eight Players to the Practice Squad: The Giants have signed the following eight players to the Practice Squad:
- HB James Sims
- WR Anthony Mix
- TE Darcy Johnson
- TE Charles Davis
- DE Adrian Awasom
- DT Marcus Green
- LB Tyson Smith
- CB Gerrick McPhearson
All of these players except for Davis were with the Giants in training camp and the preseason. Davis was drafted by the Steelers in the 5th round of the 2006 NFL Draft. He was waived by Pittsburgh on Saturday.
Players signed to the Practice Squad are not protected. They are free to sign with any other team any time they choose to do so. In addition to the eight signed, S Claudius Osei is on the Practice Squad as part of the NFL’s International Practice Squad Program. Under the three-year old program, each AFC North and NFC East team has been assigned an international player to spend the season on their respective Practice Squads.
