August 26, 2006 New York Giants Injury Report: QB Eli Manning hit his throwing hand on an opposing player’s helmet during the game against the Jets, but Head Coach Tom Coughlin said that Manning’s hand is not injured.

WR Amani Toomer suffered a hip contusion, but the injury is said to not be serious.

CB E.J. Underwood injured his left shoulder during the game and will be undergoing tests to determine the severity of the injury.

WR Sinorice Moss (quad) was expected to return to practice today, but apparently has suffered yet another setback and will not practice. “The problem is that each time he pushed himself to the point where it’s a sprint situation and you would like to be able to think that he can do that on a daily basis, which is what he has to do to play his position, he comes back from a very good workout and has soreness the next day,” Coughlin said. “Therefore, he can’t repeat the workout. Until he can sprint, and do it consistently, they’re not going to give him clearance.”

Coughlin did not have any specific updates on the other players who did not play against the Jets such as OC Shaun O’Hara (knee), LT Luke Petitgout (back), OG/OC Rich Seubert (toe), LB Carlos Emmons (burner), and HB Little John Flowers (hamstring), and HB Derrick Ward (foot). He did say that, aside from Moss, O’Hara and Emmons have not yet been given the green light to practice.

Notes: According to The Daily News, the Giants will honor Hall of Fame LB Harry Carson at halftime during the Giants-Colts season opener.
