WR Jamaar Taylor Has Not Retired at Least Yet: According to The Star-Ledger, the agent for WR Jamaar Taylor says his client has not retired. This refutes a report that had appeared on KFFL.com last Friday that Taylor had decided to retire from the NFL due to continuing problems with his surgically-repaired right knee. Taylor originally tore the ACL in that knee during his senior season in college in October 2003. He since has undergone arthroscopic surgery on the knee in the spring of 2005 and again in December 2005.

The Ledger reports that Taylor continues to rehab, but he recently experienced “clicking and popping” in the knee during the team’s recent Organized Team Activity (OTA) practices. Taylor’s agent says his client keeps going back and forth on whether to retire or not.

“He’s an emotional kid who’s just tired of hurting,” said the agent. “He’s definitely considering (retirement), but nothing is official at this point.”

Taylor’s agent says he expect his client to make a decision by Tuesday when he receives the results of a recent examination conducted by doctors not affiliated with the Giants.

Clarification on DT Junior Ioane: The recent wire reports that had the Giants signing, then waiving, then signing again unrestricted free agent DT Junior Ioane have been explained by the weekly “Inside Slant” report that appears on USAToday.com, FoxSports.com, and Sportsline.com. Apparently the NFL determined that there was a “glitch” in the Giants’ original contract to Ioane, nullifying the contract. Once the Giants corrected the contractual error, Ioane was “re-signed”.
